About Hokianga Tourism
Welcome to Hokianga Harbour and the Far North, a cradle of Māori culture, ancient kauri forests, and pristine coastal landscapes. Since 1988, the Hokianga Tourism Association Inc has worked as a dedicated volunteer not-for-profit organisation to champion sustainable, vibrant, and authentic regional tourism.

Our heritage and purpose
Established in 1988, HTA Inc brings together local businesses, residents, and guardians of this unique region. Our core purpose is to nurture a viable local visitor industry that remains environmentally, culturally, and socially sustainable for future generations.

Supporting local businesses and community
We actively identify tourism opportunities to encourage community participation across Hokianga. By strengthening local accommodation providers, eco-tours, and craft businesses, we celebrate our unique identity while advocating for our region with regional and central government.

Experience a unique destination
Whether you are sandboarding down the massive golden dunes, walking beneath ancient Tāne Mahuta in the Waipoua Forest, or relaxing by the serene harbour waters, Hokianga offers an unforgettable journey off the beaten track.
"Visiting the Hokianga is a spiritual and peaceful experience. The rich history, untouched nature, and warm local hospitality make it the true soul of Northland."
