Hokianga Ferry

The Vehicle Ferry, Kohu Ra Tuarua, operates every day between Rawene and the Narrows, about 3 Km from Kohukohu.

Tickets are purchased on board the Ferry. Payment may be either by cash or by EFTPOS, VISA and MASTERCARD. Ferry departs every hour on the hour from the Narrows and every hour on the half from Rawene. See ferry website for sailing times.

The ferry will go into shuttle mode when there is a back up of vehicles needing to cross the harbour at either side. The crossing takes aproximately 10 minutes and does not require booking.

Single trip tickets and concession cards available with prices ranging from $ 7.00 per car + driver (concession card) to $22 per car + driver for a single passage. Additional passengers $2 per ride.

Walk on cyclists welcome $2.00 per trip.

Medical Services:

Doctors, nurses and emergency medical services are based at the hospital at Rawene, but there are clinics in most of the bigger settlements around the Hokianga.

In New Zealand prescription medicines are dispensed by Chemists at a Pharmacy. You will have to pay for some prescriptions. The Pharmacy also sells healthcare products, personal medical requirements and first aid supplies.
